All of the kids are in a new school this year, so there was a bit of apprehension on all their parts. They are going to a school that is K-8. Heidi is in 8th grade and I have heard so many good things about her teacher. Her teacher met us at the front door of the school saying that she was waiting for Heidi. She put her arm around her and they were off. Heidi's day went pretty well. She has trouble with change, so it's hard for her, but with time I'm confident that she will do just fine!! Hard being the new kid in the building when you are 13!! Today was only 1/2 day, so not a lot of down time to socialize with the other kids. Once she knows the kids better I'm sure she will be A-Ok! She is turning into such a young lady. I'm so proud of her!!
Jacob's nerves kicked in when we got to the school. He is a boy that makes friends extremely easy....very outgoing, but all the newness left him feeling a bit uneasy. We took Jacob to his room first and met his teacher. You gotta be careful with a 4th grade boy....can't fuss over him or the situation too much ya know. So, we met the teacher, she showed him where to put his backpack, and the first thing she said to him was "You can pick any seat, but if you talk I will move you anyway" So we left Jacob giving us that extremely nervous and uneasy look......poor kid!....can't give him a hug or kiss because that would be the ultimate WRONG thing for a 4th grade Mom to do. When he got home today he said, "I was scared to go to a new school at first, but now I LOVE it" :) He thinks it's pretty cool that his teacher's name is Mrs. Frisbee. lol! The highlight of the day for Jacob was the headlice check...lol! He had to get toothpicks and demonstrate exactly what they did on all our heads after dinner tonight.......Ha!
