Rules, Rules, Rules!!

Gracie is a very compliant little girl. She wants to follow all the rules and feels badly if she has to be scolded for anything. When the kids first began riding the school bus Gracie would wave happily at me through the window as the bus pulled away. For the past few days, she no longer looks for me and waves. I've been feeling a tad bit sad about that.........just sad that she is growing up on me so quickly.....doesn't even have a need to look for me through the bus window.......sigh. Glad she is confident and secure though!! So, after school today we were having a conversation about how her day at school went. The school bus came up in the conversation. I asked her why she no longer waves at me from the window. She says, "I can't". What do you mean you can't? "Remember the rules Mama?".........what rules? "The rules you read me on the yellow paper...it says, no looking out the window!"Huh??? On Friday the bus driver gave me a list of rules (yes, they were written on yellow paper). She wanted all the kids to read the rules and sign the paper. They all did. I read them to Gracie. Gracie *thought* that one of the rules was "no looking out the window".......Poor Girl!! She must be overwhelmed by all of these new rules! She must be sitting like a little statue on that school bus! ;) I assured her that not looking out the windowwas not one of the school bus rules! ...."Oh good Mama!! I like looking out the window!!" Whew! Glad we got that all straightened out. Looking forward to that smiling face waving happily to me again tomorrow morning. :) :)

During this same conversation after school today we talked about snack. The kids in her class take turns bringing snack. Today the snack was popcorn...mmmmmm! "Who brought the snack today Gracie"......."Hmmmmm? hmmmm? it was a boy, but I can't remember his name. He has a black shirt with white on the sleeves and he always opens his mouth REALLY big!! I ask him to please shut your mouth because it's gross".....Ha Ha Ha!!!! Hey, I think I know that boy!......just kidin' lol! ;)
