From the mouths of babes

The baby of our family, Isaac, is six years old now. He is a pretty sharp little guy.... Very intuitive and pays close attention to the details around him. Here are a couple of statements Isaac has made in the past 24 hours. We are getting ready for a big Nicks family reunion this weekend. YAY! I was explaining to Isaac that we will be seeing a bunch of people in our family who we have not seen in a very long time. And, he said "Did somebody die?" Isn't that a sad reality that he has already figured out in his six short years! Very happy that this weekend we are all going to get together and enjoy each other's company and it didn't take a death in the family for us to do it!!!

Yesterday Isaac and I had this conversation
I: Mama, your hands look like Neena's hands (Neena is my mom)
M: They do?
I: Yup, you are turning into Neena.

:) :)

As I said above....reality. Kids speak reality. This is reality. It's not really a sad reality to me......just reality. I am definitely NOT sad about the fact that I am turning into Neena. That is a good thing. It's just more concrete confirmation that time is marching on and I need to savor the moments!!

Good reminders from the mouth of my babe!!! Enjoy our loved ones before they die....and savor the moments because they pass so quickly! Children have so much to teach us. As Jesus said, we should become like little children.

Love,
Wendy...who is turning into Neena as I type. ;)

LAKE MICHIGAN!!!

The kids and I enjoyed an afternoon at the lake yesterday. It's just sooooooooo relaxing to me. LOVE it!! Can't get much better than a carefree day at the lake. We all had a BLAST riding the waves!! Our neighbor boy Evany was able to come with us as well, which made for even extra fun for Jacob. :)

Thank you Lord for all of your bountiful blessings of life!

Wendy

Clearing Muddy Waters

Well, apparently ALL of my children are capable of the shenanigans on Isaac's face below because you all have made guesses about the artist to indicate that. LOL!! So, to clear up any misunderstandings and to keep any more false accusations from being brought against the innocent I've come here to announce the guilty party! ;) And, the guilty artist iiiiiiiiiiiissssss

J-A-C-O-B

He's trying to proclaim his innocence.... WHO ME???

But, the verdict is in.....Jacob Robert GUILTY as charged of graffiti on the face of an under aged sleeping victim!!

And the punishment for the crime

Grandma's House, DADDY!!!, Corn detasseling, Peter Rabbit, Mulberries, Go-Cart and So much more!! ;)

I guess it's been a while since I've posted here. It's hard to keep up. We've been busy having lots of summer FUN!!! Last week Jacob, Gracie and Isaac made a trip to Grandma and Grandpa Dick's house for a few days. Here is some of the fun they had at Grandmas according to the kids :)
Jacob: We went skateboarding. We went to the bridge at Marlene's house. And then we stayed at Grandma's house until the last day.

Isaac: I found a bouncy ball and then I lost it in Grandma's car. We went to the park. We went and bought stuff. We watched new movies...Velveteen Rabbit. We walked the dogs to the bridge.

Gracie: We went to the park. I sewed. We went shopping. We ate macaroni and cheese.

As you can see, they packed a lot of fun into a few short days. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Dick. We love you!!!!

Heidi has officially begun corn detasseling. They are getting a late start because the corn is late because we have had such a cool summer. I'm sure it will kick into high gear here in a week or so.

Tom was home for the weekend. YAY!!!! He's on his way back to Maryland as I type this. Boo Hoo! It's always so hard to say good-bye. We miss you already Daddy. Tom fixed the Go-Cart this weekend and the kids are thrilled to have it back up and running!!
Aunt Terrie was here for the weekend as well. We had a nice visit with her. :)

Today James came with a special gift........a new bunny. We will call him Peter Cotton Tail...Peter Rabbit...or Peter for short. :) He is so sweet, cuddly and friendly!!!!!!
Thank you James, Tonya and Larry!!! :) Peter is sure to bring us lots of joy!

We have some big ole Mulberry bushes in our yard. They are loaded this year. Gracie, Isaac and I decided to do some picking tonight.

Mulberries do not easily come out of little girl feet!!! YIKES!

Some berries actually did make it into the bucket!!Love,

The Boy

Jacob and 90 other kiddos enjoyed a week at Camp Indogan Christian Youth Camp last week. I enjoyed spending time at Camp Indogan when I was a child and the legacy continues....lol! Jacob was in the Beaver cabin this year. He and all the other little beavers had a grand ole time!! :)
Jacob was awarded the honor of Runner Up Star Camper! I'm so stinkin' proud of my boy and the progress that he is making! He's enthusiastic, eagar, kind and compassionate. He's growing by leaps and bounds physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally. It's such a JOY to have Jacob as my son.......SUCH a JOY! Since he was tiny we have affectionately referred to him as THE BOY because he exudes BOY!!!!!

My cup runneth over with love for THE BOY!!!!!!!!!!! I love you to the moon and back!
Love,

Mom

4th of July...a bit late

Gramps, Neena, Aunt Terrie, Joshua, Kylie, Garett, Devyn and Drew all came to our house to celebrate the 4th of July. We had beautiful weather and I think everyone had a good time. It really is amazing that we can get all of the kids together and not one fight......truly, they get along so well! We missed Uncle Joe, Aunt Jamie, Emily, Riley and Avery!!

Here's Gramps at the parade with 9 of the 12 grands
Gracie-7, Drew-7, Isaac-6
shukin' of the corn
Garett and Jacob...both boys, both 11, the same, but soooo different!

Top Secret

The kids and I were all sitting around the table at dinner time. Heidi asked me a question that I really did not want to answer in front of all the kiddos. I just paused for a brief moment........then Isaac piped up and said "it's classified"...with a bit of a shoulder shrug and eye roll.

rotflmbo!!!!!!!

The boy is just so stinkin' witty!!

Wendy
