So, remember Isaac's suit coat that he requested and received for his birthday in March right? He absolutely loves wearing this to church on Sunday mornings...and let me add that he looks right smart in it too. ;) The last day of school was last Monday. It was a fun day planned for the whole family. It started with an awards assembly, followed by field day and a potluck. Our school is 50% Amish, so you can just imagine the potlucks! YUM!! ;)
Isaac asked if he could "look handsome" for his awards assembly. Of course I told him that he ALWAYS looked handsome! He quickly set me straight, "NOOOOOO Mom!! I mean REALLY handsome. In my suit coat and tie!!!" I explained to him that after the awards assembly they were having field day and that I didn't think that he would want to wear his suit coat and tie to the field day. He explained that he could take a change of clothes for field day, but he REEEEEEEEALLY wanted to be "handsome" for his awards assembly! Well ok. lol. As a Mama I was silently hoping that kids would not poke fun at him for being over dressed at the same time LOVING the fact that he is so confident and his own little man! :)
He did exactly as planned. He jumped out of bed Monday morning and spiffed up to his little "handsome" self. :) Got on the bus complete with suit coat and tie with his shorts tucked in his backpack for later. He proudly went forward to receive his attendance award AND the citizenship award. :) The citizenship award is given to one student per class. I was quite surprised that Isaac received it again this year because he had received it last year as well. So proud of my sweet boy!!! :) He was ALL smiles in his suit coat and tie.....his confidence was shining! :) Many parents, teachers and the principal told me how much they loved how he was dressed. lol! It's mostly awesome because he does not worry about what his peers might think. He is who he is! :) I followed his class back to his classroom after the assembly and took the above photo. His classmates informed me that Isaac would someday be president of the United States. lol!!
Miss Gracie walked away with a handful of awards. She received the creativity award, the spelling award (only missed one spelling award all year!), multiplication club award and an award for scoring well on the MEAP test (our state standardized test) GO GRACIE!!!!! :)
Jacob received an attendance award. GO JACOB!!!!! :) I did not attempt to take his photo at the awards assembly because well....he's at that age where mom taking a photo is embarrassing! lol! Jacob was kind of sad that school was ending, which may be surprising to some considering that, like many boys, reading, writing and arithmetic take second place in Jacob's mind to pretty much EVERYTHING else in his life. Ha! Jacob is an extremely outgoing social guy though, so the sadness was coming from not being able to see many of his friends for the entire summer! I did manage to get this photo of Jacob and some of his friends at field day! :) I say "some" of his friends because Jacob is pretty much friends with EVERYONE! We were discussing at youth group last night how important it is to choose our friends wisely. Jacob piped up and said that all of the kids in his class are his friends! That's my boy! :)
Here are a few more photos from field day.
Gracie catching a wet sponge. :)
Lined up and ready to go....
The bat game....you have to put your head on the bat and spin around it a set number of times like so...
Then you have to run to a cone at the other end of the field. Watching the little kids attempt it was cute, but watching the older kids attempt it was HILARIOUS!!!.....because...this is what happens...they were all out of kilter falling all over the place and running the wrong direction! LOL!! It was too funny! The spinning affected their bodies much more adversely than the little kids' bodies! :)
Can you see Gracie in this photo? She is in the back there and her feet are totally off the ground! :)
Isaac and Lewayne.
Heidi was able to come with us on this day because she did not have school. Her last day was the Friday before. She enjoyed the day and was able to visit with some friends. Grandma and Grandpa Dick came as well! :)
Just cuz I like this photo...WendyS...it's my blog and I can right?! ;)
So, we now have a 3rd grader, a 4th grader, an 8th grader and a SENIOR.....gulp!!!
Love,
Wendy
