Jacob has made a huge effort and succeeded in earning himself a new bike! The boy has not had good luck with bicycles. One was run over by Dad and a Bobcat.....pretty much Dad's fault. One was run over by Mom and the van.....Jacob's fault. And one was run over by the mail lady.....mail lady's fault. So, that is three bikes destroyed by motor vehicles. Ugh!! So, Jacob was definitely in need of a new bike. Along with his need for a new bike was a need for improvement with spelling. He was really struggling with spelling, but Tom and I were convinced that he just wasn't doing his best. He was working hard at studying the words at home, but was not concentrating when it came time to take the test. He was missing words on the test that he definitely knew how to spell. We knew he could do better. So, Tom decided to give Jacob a little incentive. In January Tom told Jacob that if he could get an 85 or higher on every spelling test from then (Jan) thru the month of April he would buy him a new bike. That's all it took. From that day til now Jacob has done extremely well in spelling. It's just a matter of taking the time to focus and concentrate instead of being distracted by his surroundings. It does take effort. He works very hard throughout the week learning how to spell the words. He just needed that extra bit of incentive to stay focused during the test. Way To Go Jacob!!! We are extremely proud of you. Now we all KNOW you can do it......even without the extra incentive. ;) Keep up the good work.

Thanks goodness Jacob was not sitting on those bikes when they met their untimely ending. I hope this one sticks around for a long time!
VERY cool bike, Jacob!! :)
