Little Man Isaac is napping as I type! YAY!! Over the past several weeks naptimes has been a struggle. Isaac still NEEDS a nap, but playing is much more fun at the time. He would go to his bed very willingly at naptime, but instead of snoozing he would play........and play....and play. You know that old saying "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink"? Well, you can lead a toddler to bed, but you can't make him sleep. The frustrating part is that on days that Isaac chooses playing over napping he is miserable in the evenings because he is so tired! If he was ready to give up napping and continue to be his happy self I would be fine with it, but he is obviously NOT ready!
Well, last Wednesday.....just like the several days before....Isaac sailed right through naptime with no shut eye to be found, just lots and lots of quiet playing in his bed. He fell asleep on the way to church that evening. I carried him into the building and he slept through the entire service! The snoozing continued all the way back home. We took off his clothes and put on his jammers and put him to bed and he didn't miss a "zzzzzz" in the process. The next day at naptime I explained to Isaac what had happened the night before. How he missed the trip to church, the singing, his class and craft, the trip home, getting on his jammers and feeding the fish. His eyes were wide with surprise as I explained all he missed out on. I then proceeded to remind him that Jacob and Heidi had a basketball game that night. If he didn't take his nap now, then he would likely be so tired later that he would fall asleep and miss the game.......miss the cheering and jumping, miss the popcorn, miss running around the gym after the game, etc. etc. etc. The boy laid down and was fast alseep within minutes!! LOL!! He had a great time at the games and I reminded him how happy I was that he had taken a nap earlier in the day so that he was not asleep and missing all the fun! :) You know what? He has napped everyday since. So, we have enjoyed a full week of happy napping! Hopefully it will continue until he no longer truly needs a nap.
Gracie has absolutely no problem whatsoever napping. Mama enjoys the quiet time in the afternoon as well. Happy napping sweet boy......and girl!! :) zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!
Love,
Wendy
Tried to post a picture of my napping boy with no luck. Will try again later!
