Happy Valentine's Day!

Hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day. Our Valentine's Day gift here was another snow day! YAY!!! Jacob was a bit disappointed though because his class had planned a Valentine's Day field trip to the bowling ally today. Jacob thought that since he couldn't go bowling with his class that we should all go bowling. That would have been lots of fun except for the fact that the roads were snow covered and slippery! After all, that's why the kids were home in the first place right? ;) So, we opted to stick close to home on this cold snowy day. We got out and played a bit in the snow and Jacob did some snow shoveling. It's too cold to make a good snowman, but according to the weather man it should warm up some next week. We have plans to make a good snowman then! :)

Because of the weather, Tom's shop delayed starting by a few hours and then ran production on a skeleton crew. They have two vans that pick up the Amish that work in the shop. The first van got stuck in the snow. So, they opted not to send out the second van. So, many of them had a snow day today too. :)

The kids all received Valentine's cards from Grandma and Grandpa Dick in the mail today. Each card was filled with an extra special treat....$5. The kids were all extremely thrilled with this gift. Gracie received a $5 bill in her card and Isaac received 5...$1 bills. Of course, in a 4 year olds eyes it appears to her that her brother received more money because he has many more actual bills! I tried ,to no avail, to explain to Gracie, in 4 year old terms, that the amount was the same. Gracie has just the sweetest personality!! She tried to be understanding and strong about this.....she got extremely quiet and I could see the "look" overcome her face. The "look" of I'm trying ever so hard to hold it back, but the tears are coming and I just can't stop them. It's SUCH a pitiful look! The quiet tears slipped down her sweet face. Just so sad! I scooped her up and tried to explain the situation to her one more time and then went and raided my $1 bills and exchanged her $5 bill for 5- $1 bills just like Isaac's. Her quiet tears were replaced with a gentle smile. We scoured the cupboard for the perfect jelly jar to hide away the stash of cash. So, Gracie and Isaac are now fast asleep with their jelly jars of Valentine money next to their beds. Their dreams are most likely filled with what they might buy with their gifts from Grandma and Grandpa Dick. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!! :)

Included in the bundle of Valentines was a special Valentine for me. It was a Valentine that was given to me years ago by Tom's brother, Mike. Mike is 11 years younger than Tom and he gave me this Valentine when he was just a little guy. He could barely write his name. Tom's Mom had found it and sent it to me. Pretty cool! :)

I had a fun evening with my Valentine! :) I love you sweetie! You are THE BEST!! I'm so very blessed to have such a special person in my life. You are my rock!
