My Uncle Tom passed away on Tuesday. He passed away after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just two short months ago. Amazing the swiftness of this dreaded disease! Uncle Tom was the twin brother to my mom....her only sibling.
He was a biker. He loved to ride! Underneath his leathers and tatoos and "tough biker" appearance was the heart of a very gentle soul. He reminded me of a roasted marshmellow. Kind of crusty on the outside, but soft and sweet on the inside. He had LOTS of friends. He could carry on a good conversation with anyone. He didn't meet a stranger. Several years ago he and his family traveled from Michigan to Texas for my Grandma's wedding. While in Texas he stopped for gas and ran into someone at the gas station that he knew. lol! The funeral home was packed today. They had to open up two extra seating areas. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He was a no nonsense, tell it like it is kind of guy. His daughter, Missy, who has a very similar personality as her Dad described it well. She said, "my friend told me that I have no filter. If something pops into my head, it comes out my mouth" LOL! That was Uncle Tom!
All of the motorcyles at the funeral home last night for the visitation and today for the funeral....well...just WOW!!! Here is a photo of Uncle Tom's bike. Pretty nice ride. My boys were impressed. ;) So, after the funeral all of these bikes led us out to the club for a very nice meal! It was great!
He also served in the navy. So, he had a 21 gun salute with taps and a flag presented to his wife Betty.
It was good to be with loved ones. To share memories. To Laugh. To Cry. To Love. I am blessed with a wonderful family.
Uncle Tom, You will be missed!
Love,
Wendy
